Membrane Structure
This model explores tensegrity as a spatial and structural condition produced through the negotiation between compression and tension. Inspired by Yona Friedman’s interest in lightweight, open-ended systems, the assembly tests how linear members and suspended loads can generate equilibrium through instability. PVC pipes act simultaneously as structural elements and static loads, while fishing lines operate as tensile connectors that hold the system in balance. By varying the number, angle, orientation, and length of these elements, the model examines how small shifts in geometry redistribute force and transform the overall behavior of the structure.
